Usage Guidelines and Brand Names

Consume this medication only as directed by your physician. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or duration without consulting a healthcare professional.

Take Amoxicillin with food to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. You can also take it on an empty stomach if instructed otherwise.

Swallow the exted-release tablet whole; do not chew, break or crush it.

For liquid dosage forms oral suspension, shake well before each use and measure the prescribed dose using a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. Note that household teaspoons are inaccurate for measuring this medication.

Dilute the oral liquid by mixing it with baby formula, milk, fruit juice, water, ginger ale, or other cold drinks as necessary. Ensure that your child consumes the entire mixture immediately.

Complete your prescribed course of treatment even if you feel better after a few doses. Continuing treatment is essential for full resolution of infection.

Dosage Guidelines

The recommed dosage varies deping on individual factors:

For oral forms capsules, powder for suspension, tablets:

  1. Bacterial Infections:

    • Adults and children weighing over 40 kg: Take either 250-500 mg every 8 hours or 500-875 mg every 12 hours.

    • Children aged 3 months to under 40 kg: Dosing should be adjusted according to body weight as directed by your doctor. Commonly, the dose is calculated at a rate of 20-40 mgkgday divided into two doses every 8 hours or 25-45 mgkgday divided into three doses every 12 hours.

    • Children under 3 months: Dosing must be determined by your doctor. A typical dose might involve administering 30 mg per kg of body weight, divided and given every 12 hours.

  2. H. pylori Infection Treatment:

    Dual therapy:

    • Adults: Take a combination of 1000 mg amoxicillin and 30 mg lansoprazole three times dly every 8 hours for 14 days.

    Triple therapy:

    • Adults: Take amoxicillin 1000 mg, lansoprazole 30 mg, and a second antibiotic such as clarithromycin or metronidazole with food every day for two weeks.
