Abstract:
Objective:
To evaluate the efficacy of mtake mushrooms in inhibiting liver fat accumulation and serum lipid elevation in a hyperlipidemic rat model.
Design:
This study employed Sprague-Dawley rats with hyperlipidemia to compare serum parameters including cholesterol, phospholipids, and triglycerides between rats fed a high-cholesterol diet versus those supplemented with 20 dried mtake mushroom powder.
Results:
The supplementation of rats' diets with mtake mushrooms consistently resulted in lower levels of the aforementioned lipids compared to the basic cholesterol-fed group. Notably, this treatment mntned baseline high-density lipoprotein HDL cholesterol levels that were not affected by the high-cholesterol diet. The weights of liver tissues and epididymal fat pads excised from mtake-fed rats were significantly lower than those from rats on a basic feed.
:
The current findings suggest that mtake mushrooms have potential to modulate lipid metabolism, effectively reducing hepatic lipid deposition and serum lipid levels. Further investigations are necessary to elucidate the mechanism underlying this activity in mtake mushrooms, and to confirm if such effects translate similarly when applied to subjects.
Citations Impact:
Further research could contribute significantly to the understanding of Mtake's role in lipid metabolism regulation.
